June 22, 2011 - Moore posts mysterious note on FacebookMoore posted a mysterious note on Facebook earlier today that left fans wondering whether the text might be lyrics taken from OSI's upcoming fourth studio album, which is slated for release in January. The note, titled "ghost writ," is broken into two stanzas and ends with an apparent source credit: "Big Dead Ned (1857)." The text is as follows: "i'm hacking my bible, burning my journal cooking for one at the too big to fail jail hobo amp stack, technical insult washing my hands at the toothbrush urinal i’m growin my hair in, burning the flap jacks thinning the mix till I win at the race track bathtub broke so I filled it with mouse traps let's get dark out, who let the cat back -Big Dead Ned (1857)" Facebook link: www.facebook.com/notes/kevin-moore-official/ghost-writ/247136288637282

yes i saw this. Really livened up a boring afternoon. Love the Ghost Writ header. And the last line blows me away:
let's get dark out, who let the cat back
Did Kevin write this?? i searched google and couldnt find anything about this. Also the lines rime heavily. Maybe these are some new lyrics??
its remarkable how he never fails to impress me

It sounds a lot like OSI-type lyrics to me. I searched a few of the phrases on Google and didn't find anything. Seems like Big Dead Ned (1857) should be some kind of clue. Hmm!

I think I have something. A book called "Dead Ned" by John Masefield. But it's written in 1938. Maybe the 1857 is a page number? Link: www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/m/john-masefield/dead-ned.htmSummary: A humorous tale of the fate of a young doctor in training who had the misfortune to be hanged. His friends manage to surreptitiously revive him, and send him off to hide as a doctor on a slavers ship.

Well, I searched Dead Ned and that was the most common result. But who knows.
Also, for those who don't know, a "writ" is a formal written order issued by a body with administrative or judicial jurisdiction. So the title of this is "ghost writ," which is like a ghost order. Man, why do I always insist on trying to figure out what Kevin is trying to say, lol. It's challenging.

Well, I don't think I'm right by linking this to the book. After all, the book wasn't written in 1857. There must be a reason for the 1857. Also, there's movie called Dead Ned. Looks pretty silly. Trailer:

I've also collected some ideas. I found this Australian Outloaw Ned Kelly, called "Big Ned". He seems to be some kind of hero in Australia. He was born 1850 and died 1877. He had a friend and accomplice, who wrote many poems and ballads about him - Joe Byrne, who was born 1857. One of these poems, called ] Stringybark Creek has similarities, to what Kevin wrote. A Sergeant and three constables set out from Mansfield town Near the end of last October for to hunt the Kellys down; They started for the Wombat Hills and thought it quite a lark When they camped upon the borders of a creek called Stringybark. It was shortly after breakfast Mac thought he heard a noise So gun in hand he sallied out to try and find the cause, But he never saw the Kellys planted safe behind a log So he sauntered back to smoke and yarn and wire into the prog. But Ned Kelly and his comrades thought they'd like a nearer look, For being short of grub they wished to interview the cook; And of firearms and cartridges they found they had too few, So they longed to grab the pistols and ammunition too. Both the troopers at a stump alone they were well pleased to see Watching as the billies boiled to make their pints of tea; There they joked and chatted gaily never thinking of alarms Till they heard the fearful cry behind, Bail up, throw up your arms! The traps they started wildly and Mac then firmly stood While Lonergan made tracks to try and gain the wood, Reaching round for his revolver, but before he touched the stock Ned Kelly pulled the trigger, fired, and dropped him like a rock. Then after searching McIntyre all through the camp they went And cleared the guns and cartridges and pistols from the tent, But brave Kelly muttered sadly as he loaded up his gun, Oh, what a bloody pity that the bastards tried to run.The whole Outlaw things fits well to the text in my opinion. Second idea is, that "Big Dead Ned" is an Anagram. Maybe for "Big Dead End". If you take a look in what happened 1857, you find the Mountain Meadows massacre in Utah on September 11th. The 9/11 thing fits to OSI1 but not to the text, Kevin postet (in my opinion). Just my thoughts about this - maybe a little far-fetched. Niop

I guess Big Ned is dead and he knows he's dead. He's become a ghost and lives like a ghost. This writing shows he's alive and doing such things only that he doesn't know the year is 2011!

Deep down, I'm holding out for this NOT to be related to OSI4. Same with the video clip he posted a few months back. Metal Blade is obviously going to market OSI4, and Kevin did the grassroots thing while working on OSI4 to promote Shine, so what if... just what if he's slowly forming a new Chroma Key concept album, and this is the beginnings of it.
I can dream, right?

i think this might be about the economy. The first two lines tell us it cant be old...heres my take on it right now..of course i dont have it all explained..
moral hazard and its all off the record we are all serving the too big to fail banks...
ok this one is tricky. the guy collecting money on the courner with the electric guitar and amp thing is an insult. wash my hands and bursh my teeth in the same place i pee. pee on the people and then wash my hands in it...like its clean.
dont people usually say im growing my hair out? why does he say growing my hair in?? Is he saying he is losing his hair burning the flap jacks? losing his hair screwing up under the heat?
thining the flap jack mix--thining it out --diluting , watering down the pan cakes. cuz he keeps burning them. Maybe this is refering to the us dollars waning value?? It will gain value again when he wins at the race track or when wallstreet has bounced back??
the thing we use to clean ourselves broke but hey we can use that to catch mice instead!! Lets all conserve energy...who let the cat back in?? we have the bathtub now remember??
it all sounds like a criticism of our system.
I have no ideas for the big dead ned though ... lol

So, is this an order written by a ghost, to a ghost or both... I thought the washing of hands meant not taking responsibility.

I love how Kevin puts works together that would never normally go together. It makes you think. For example: "hacking my bible." That's a pretty awesome concept.
