If you want to delete to make an official thread with other info, go ahead, Mike. This is just to hold a place until you get something up and get people pledging!!!

Hey hey wow this is super-exciting news! Honestly, I think I would have preferred it if it was another Kickstarter-type campaign, where you end up with one solid product at the end... I'm not such a fan of getting songs in dribs and drabs. But I'm excited to see how it turns out!
First new KMo music in 3.5 years and first solo release in 5 years. And first solo compositions in 8 or 9 years I guess! It will be interesting to hear how his "musical personality" has changed in that time...

Very happy to see new CK music music! It's been a few years since we'd heard anything regarding new tunes, so this is awesome. Can't wait to hear them!

Well, i was quite unhappy about what happened in MotoGP last weekend between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez but when I saw Kevin's post almost forgot about MotoGP and am quite excited.
As it write this now it's 147 patrons and $1,046.20 per song but hopefully it will reach $2000, the second milestone goal, sometime soon.

it just seems to me that this monitization process is intruding on the artistic.
Will $100 per brush stroke paint the Starry Night?

I understand the reasoning behind doing it this way. It's a steady cash flow over a period of time, rather than a large sum all at once. So he can use the money as soon as he gets it, instead of waiting a few months. This is good for smaller artists who have no finacial backing. It's good for us because there's no record label fucking with his vision. The downside is that it's now a market. If one of his songs doesn't appeal to the patrons, they may lower or remove their pledge. This may lower the amount of experimenting he does. Or maybe he'll just put out the more approachable songs and save the experimental stuff for the album. I personally would rather pay 30-50 up front like kick starter, but, like I said, this is money he gets as soon as he puts out a song, so I get how it's better for him. I'm super excited for new Chroma Key, though. We're only $260 away from an album. It has slowed but is growing steady.

$85 left!!! Very exciting stuff. I always thought Patreon worked best for things like weekly webcomics, where you could reasonably charge a small amount for a regular product. Basically a subscription service. I'm not sure that works so well for the creation of a single body of work. The analogy is like a weekly newspaper column versus chapters of a book: newspaper columns should be able to stand by themselves whereas book chapters, like songs on an album, are a smaller part of a larger body of work. On the other hand, this could be seen as a return to the old system of patronage, where an artist's endeavour would be funded by some rich guy (a nobleman or royal court of whatever). The difference now is that crowdfunding like this allows "the masses" to collectively decide who deserves our patronage instead of one rich guy, but with more flexibility than simply funding projects one at a time. Part of me is considering not listening to any of the songs until the whole album is completed. A dribble of songs, however awesome, doesn't appeal to me in the same way as a complete body of work. But I'm excited either way, and prepared to be surprised!

But I'm excited either way, and prepared to be surprised! Yeah, I agree. I've also seen lots of creators not even offer anything. You just basically donate because you really enjoy it. That is good because then there's no company trying to make it marketable. It'll be hard to not listen to the songs as they're released, but I've had the same thought. Maybe in album form, it will be a different enough experience. Anyway, I'm obviously excited. I upped my contribution From 5 to 5.5 because if everyone does, we'll get to 2k.Just throwing that out there
