So, basically, everyone's here because they're a fan of Kevin Moore's music. But what other music do you listen to?
I'm a metal head, for the most part. Mostly traditional metal (I listen to waaaaay too much Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, along with thrash bands like Megadeth and Dark Angel), but I listen to progressive (Dream Theater, Ayreon), death (Morbid Angel, Akercocke, Bloodbath) and black (Emperor, Darkthrone, Code, Immortal) metal.
In addition I'm into a lot of pop and electronic stuff (Jellyfish, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode), and I think it's that love of electronic pop that actually got me into Chroma Key, and I think I enjoy OSI for their electronic stuff more than the metal stuff.
So how about you?

i love from jazz to death metal. i think my favorite bands ever are like.. katatonia, freak kitchen, CK (if you can call it 'a band', that is) and maybe opeth. I've been in a huge Peter Gabriel mood for like, 2 months. It gets on my NERVES how come he came to south america and DID NOT play in Brazil. This country sucks. i lovelovelovelove nick drake and frank zappa. yes, i guess i'm weird. do you guys have last.fm? here is mine. feel free to add me (as long as you let me know who you are ).

I've sent a friend request on last.fm My last.fm profile for anyone who's interested can be found here: www.last.fm/user/bobmcbojitThough I've started turning last.fm off when I listen to my own music, and I end up forgetting to turn it back on, so it doesn't get updated as much as it probably should.

This is really sad, but I pretty much only listen to music that is related to Kevin, lol. I started with Dream Theater, then his guest appearances with Fates Warning introduced me to them. They came Porcupine Tree after OSI 1 and ShutDOWN. Now Opeth. I do like Symphony X and Queensryche. I also got into Peter Gabriel after I read in an interview 10 years ago that Kevin is a big fan of his. Oh, I also really like Tears for Fear and Faith No More (they reunited, yeah!)

I'm really boring when it comes to music... I don't listen to alot... I like the sound of silence... But with Kevin's music I really like to break the silence... But of course I listen to the good old Dream Theater stuff (I'm not a fan of their latest albums). But at times I listen a lot to the great Peter Gabriel era of Genesis. That's pure gold. Supper's ready and The Battle of Epping Forest are among my favorites. I saw The Musical Box (the Canadian band) a couple of years ago when they performed the Selling England by the Pound Tour. That was just an amazing experience. It was like I traveled back to the seventies and saw the real thing... Other bands I like: Rush, Yes, Tori Amos, Arena, and the good old hard rock bands that I grew up with in the '80's (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Helloween, Dio, Accept, etc... (where's that headbanging smiley when you need it?)

I used to be a fan of progressive music... I still listen to a couple bands, but not like I used to. Porcupine Tree and King's X are my favorites. I also listen to waaaay too much Bob McBojit. He's kind of a hero to me.
I also listen to Nick Drake now and then, and I like the Smashing Pumpkins and lots of stuff.

He said in an old interview he likes them. Now, I'm a huge fan of numbers station. Moreover, I have a music band and in our first (and last ) album I put a lot of samples of numbers station in a song.

Mebert, that tale of how u got into DT's "Images & Words" is so awesome!! hahaha kewwwwwwwwwlness i like a lot of music like most of us..used to do Top 5's in high school of fave bands/artists..nowadays it's more songs/albums than bands/artists.. ppl i do favorite to listen constantly tho? A recent band i just got into are the Pineapple Thief but i enjoy Wilco, Kevin Moore..of course...CK/OSI/some DT, Fates Warning, Porcupine Tree, huge fan of guitarists Eric Johnson & George Lynch, Tesla..hmm i don't wanna bore anyone but ANYthing with singer Göran Edman is a must for me too.. Standard oldies like Hendrix, Zeppelin, Nirvana, Beatles/the Rutles (underrated), etc... i'll stop there, alright!

...huge fan of guitarists Eric Johnson & George Lynch... George Lynch is amazing! I don't know what he's been doing for a couple of decades but what he did on Dokken's Back for the Attack was just amazing. One of mye favorite albums ever, and I love all the brilliant riffs and guitarsolos... And the nostalgia of the late 80's, man... (I'm getting old here... )

Chillout, downtempo, trip-hop, some rap/hip-hop, some acoustic/singer-songwriter stuff, a little bit of modern classical and I guess I'll be learning some more Classical the more I learn to play guitar/exercise. Also some post-rock (the more atmospheric stuff like Sigur Ross, God is an Astronaut, If These Trees Could Talk).
And various types of rock and metal (progressive, death, some black, doom, etc)

I like to think I am a fan of anything creative but at the moment I have 2 musical fronts. Jazz and prog...and the prog front has somewhat sadly been distilled down to Moore's projects. He seems to be the only one moving things forward and is a real artist.
Jazz unfortunately has stagnated as well...how many times and for how many years can I listen to Kind of Blue?? If you are not thrilled about the direction branford marsalis, pat metheny, brad mehldau ...are heading its kind of hard to know where to turn.
Moore is one of very few bright spots musically for me these days.

listening to the snippet. I really want to like PT, but i just find the songs so predictable....i dont know i guess im also finding this "55 min track" thing a little pretentious.
