I was thinking about this today. Blood has been out for like six months. All the interviews and other tasks are complete and done with. He's probably had time to chill. What should he do next? The obvious choices are a new Chroma Key album or a film soundtrack. Or maybe a completely new project that we have no idea about.
Personally, I would like to see him work on the new Fates Warning album. On FW.com, the latest news item said that they will have something new for fans in 2010. They are probably working on it now or starting to work on it. For the last five years, Jim and Kevin have worked exclusively with each other pretty much. It seems natural for the relationship to continue.
The only reason Kevin didn't work on Fates' last album was because he was doing the Turkish film soundtracks and it didn't fit into his schedule. If he's available now, I hope he'd work on their album.
It would even be great if he stuck around as an interim keyboardist and played some shows with them.

it will be great if he collaborates again with FW, i really love his work with Jim... but what i would really love is another CK album (even if i can't hear it =|)... that would be awesome... i'm expecting a new release in 2010/2011... but with Kev who knows? we'll see what happens...

I was really intrigued with the more "organic band" direction he mentioned in one of the interviews. I think it would be very interesting to hear Kevins ideas in a band , non solo format. I like Jim and Fates but its not really the same because its mostly about Jims idea which i like but I am much more intrigued with Moore's approach. EDIT: How about this-- a new Fates Warning album with Kevin singing and writing the songs ?

Yeah something clean and jazzy sounds awesome. His straight piano playing is few and far between. as far as collaborations go, I'd say Stephen Wilson would make a great partner. Or Imogen Heap. Most of all i want a Chroma Key or OSI tour.

I dont know about you but iv had about enough of Stephen Wilson for a while...

I really think Kevin is going to do something new - not CK, OSI or soundtrack related. An appearance on the Fates Warning album would be nice and that's what I want, but I don't think it will happen.
The reason I think he'll do something totally new is because Kevin likes change and new things. I mean, he's only done 3 DT albums, 3 CK albums, 3 OSI albums and 3 soundtracks (if you count GMH). Three seems to be his limit. Then he tries a new project. Same with his life. He lives somewhere for a while, then gets tired of it and moves on. So I wouldn't be surprised if he went in a totally new direction like that organic band idea with new musicians that we don't know about.

Me too I think Kevin is going to do something new. And I hope it will be the more organic thing he mentioned somewhere. Maybe another super group, with a brand new album and a following world tour... Dreaming is for free...

My vote goes towards another CK album.
I need a new pile of that patented ambient, atmospheric, moody CK sound.
OSI kinda covers the prog rock side of things so I'm not really itching for any new FW even though I love the band. I love to see Matheos do another acoustic album. It's been 10 years since Away With Words.
Soundtracks are pretty cool but an album of songs is better IMO.

Yea, i agree about no more soundtracks - unless they are released as an album. I still want the music for Kucuk Kiyamet.

Regardless of what musical direction Moore takes next, he really needs to try and break SOMEHOW into the quasi-mainstream market. For a talent as great as he possesses, his musical accomplishments will (sadly) go by ignored by SO many unless he can achieve some kind of mainstream critical success in the future.
Think of his next album garnering a review in Rolling Stone (not condoning this 'mag' in any way) - it would establish him in the world music history. I believe this is an aspect of Moore's career which is tragically lacking.

I understand what you mean, ckfan. To be honest, I really believe that he and Jim try to attract more fans with Blood by including Mikael Akerfeld (spelling?) from Opeth and Tim Bowness from No-Man. Two guest singers instead of just one shows that they were trying to grow their audience and reach more people. Plus, they tried to furtehr attract Porcupine Tree fans by using Gavin instead of a lesser known drummer. Idk if it worked, because I have no idea how many copies Blood sold. But I think this was Kevin's best attempt at getting more mainstream.

A brilliant album, that deserves far more, has been completely ignored by a majority. I think there needs to be a change somewhere - in management or the signing to a more industrially recognized/powerful record label - to substantiate a recognition of Moore's talent and musical discourse.

Does anyone know how to find out how many copies Blood sold? I'm curious. And I'd like to see how it comapred to first two album sales. Portnoy and DT have such a following that the first two albums might have outsold Blood. But Opeth and Porcupine Tree fans might have come out to buy Blood.
I think the onlye way Kevin can get more reognition is if he plays some shows as an opening act for Fates Warning or PT or something like that. That's the only thing he hasn't done. But maybe he has no desire to increase his fanbase. He just likes to express himself and release and album once and while and that's it.

Do you guys think we'll get any Kevin news soon? I've been getting restless lately. It would be nice to hear from KM and see what's in the works for him. It's been like 10 months since the release of Blood.

I think that once Kevin starts writing again he will post a message on the CK website to inform people of his intentions and musical direction - just like he does when working on OSI records. He mentioned in an interview after the release of Blood that he usually takes a few months off before he starts to get the urge to develop new musical ideas, so we might hear something soon.
