I do like his idea for a more raw organic sounding project. But he doesn't seem certain about it. I remember 10 years ago he was discussing releasing a CD of instrumental meditation songs, but that didn't happen. Personally, I would love to hear Kevin with just a piano. But he has to sing. I don't want someone else singing!

Kev have to sing all the time... his style is so unique... on the other hand... i would love to have more piano on his next projects... but i love the tune he uses in GMH album (White Robe, Sad Sad Movie, Again Today) u know what i mean? that electronic piano justs fits well all the time... ^^

I hear ya, wiche. i do like the electronic piano too. but he's really gotten away from just the regular piano sound. to me, the regular piano is such a beautiful instrument. outside the soundtracks for okul and kucuk kiyamet, he has't really used a traditional piano sound since "Subway" I think. I would love to hear him do a Peter Gabriel type song like "The Drop" or "Here Comes the flood" with just piano.

yup, on OSI1 video bonus stuffie u see Kevin with headphones at the grand piano playing along to tape. BTW, White Robe TOTALLY rules yes ;D i didn't know where else to put this link but i had no idea Kevin schooled someone else...gave lessons or assistance back in the day! Mebert, this musician/engineer Roy Harter is from your neck of the woods too. Just like all the guys from DT (apart from Canuck Labrie). www.biographicon.com/view/q0xa9www.biographicon.com/view/as6beRoy began taking piano lessons at the age of 9, and eventually began studying music theory under original Dream Theater keyboardist Kevin Moore. And saw same thing here on the always "reliable" Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Harter

Wow, good find Phil. And that's true about the OSI 1 photograph of him at the piano.
Also, the older brother of one of my high school friends took piano lessons under Kevin around the time Awake was released. I didn't think anything of it at the time because I didn't really get into DT until 1996.

Wow, that is two really cool stories! *thumbs up* Does Roy Harter have any myspace? Ya, Kevin on piano = instant win. He can create so awesome and moody melodies, just like On the Page and Space Dye Vest. And I would like to only have him singing too! but thats not a big thing to worry about since he usually do it anyway.

Did anyone else notice under the links, they have the OSI site, then Chroma Key, then a perpetually unfinished Geocities fansite from 1998 listed as "Kevin Moore Website (in progress)"? I don't know why I find that really amusing

Kev just moved on from his days in DT... they put them in a box of memories and now he's just over that... just let him continue with his life...
i just have a petition for this guy... if Kevin accedes to do the interview... gimme his e-mail and/or phone number... i gotta find him soon xD

wow, phil. how did you find that blog spot by rich wilson? i'm a lil surprised kevin doesn't embrace his DT roots more. But I'm used to it being this way by now. I guess he doesn't want to feel like he's hanging onto DT for publicity, but at the same time he acknowledge in that audio interview from last month that most of his fans find him through DT. Anyway, not sure why this guy feels the needs to post an open letter to Kevin for everyone to read. Is he trying to embarrass or guilt Kevin into doing the interview? Just say in the book that Kmo declined repeated requests for an interview and leave it at that.

well, i emailed rich wilson and told him I was going to post a news item about his open letter on this website. he wrote back and said OK, but added that his offer to donate to a charity has been taken the wrong way by some people. i posted about it on the news section.
