"to Mike from Mike," how awesome! That's amazing man, so cool to get close to people in real life. The most famous guy I've met is Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, and I was so star-struck I could barely speak.

Wow, Dave Mustaine is a good person to meet! Did you get to talk to him? Unfortunately, I didn't get to talk to Mike like I did with Jordan and Petrucci when I met them. Probably better that way since I said something stupid fanboy stuff when I met Petrucci anyways, lol.

In your series of photos with Petrucci, Rudess, and Portnoy, i think this one is the best.

I'm still bummed that I missed Myung when I met Petrucci in November. He's my fav current DT member. The guy I really want to meet is Jim Matheos. He seems like a really nice guy. If he tours with Arch/Matheos this fall, I'm gonna make sure I see him somehow.

Wow, Dave Mustaine is a good person to meet! Did you get to talk to him? It was at a small club called the White Rabbit in San Antonio, we won tickets for a 200 person preview of The World Needs a Hero plus a 45 minute acoustic concert. It ROCKED!! Afterwards we all went through a line and everyone got to get things autographed. At one point the line stalled, and I was looking around soaking it in. I turned back to the tables and saw I was right in front of Dave himself! He just did the little head tilt greeting all cool like, and said something like "S'up." My jaw dropped open and all I could do was stammer "Unbelievable!" NOT my best moment. He dug my wife (at the time girlfriend) though. She took a picture and he wasn't looking at her, so he called her back and said "No wait, we gotta do that again!" and he leaned up far on the table and hugged her for the picture. Awesome! I'll try to dig up the pix and post them.

And of course, Mr. Kevin Moore. ;D
Please, if it is possible. Dave Mustaine is one of my favorites.

Thanks for sharing story of Portnoy meetup, Mike! (Hits "Exalt" button) And I EMPHATICALLY AGREE that Kevin Moore, Jim Matheos and John Arch should be next set of musicians to meetup with! Only met Matheos and Portnoy once but both were very friendly guys. Matheos is so mellow but also very patient. Mike is really outgoing and vocal. When they added Kevin to the mix for 1st OSI it must have made perfect sense. lol at James! That must have been unnerving meeting Dave Mustaine. He used to be such a ticking time bomb onstage and from what i've heard in person too. And PS. Those were some great photos you took Mike! (re: facebook) hahaa

It was spray-on hot pink actually, but these are old photos I scanned years ago so it looks pretty washed out. :-D It was a fun night, the only thing I've done like that. I have the framed poster the band autographed, and oddly enough after years of being tucked away in the closet it's about to come out as we're rearranging rooms in the house!

James, that's awesome!! And the beard o' pink was bitchin' if ya ask me, man. Thanks for sharing! Wish my friend would have snapped pics of me meeting Ray Alder and Joey Vera 10 years ago but she was prolly star-struck after i got a great one of her w/ Ray..hehe Mike, maybe next Friday you'll get lucky and meetup again w/ Portnoy. When i met him in '93 post-show i got his attention by yelling "Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike!" very loudly from behind a fence. He was helping road crew dismantle stage. Maybe he's back to his roots again now and hanging out after gigs for similar reasons. Have fun either way!

Well, I figure I'll post this here instead of starting a new thread just for the Adrenaline Mob, which is MP's new band with vocalist Russell Allen of Symphony X. I finally woke up this morning after seeing the band's live debut last night, lol. The show was definitely high energy -- living up to the band's name. It was the first time I've ever seen Russell Allen sing live. He is a beast. He's like a WWE wrestler that has pipes. I could watch him all day. Mike Orlando really seemed into it. He had a big smile most of the show and was genuinely having a good time. He also had some interesting solo faces, lol. The bassist plays his bass upside down. I have no idea how he could learn to play it that way. Overall, it was a solid show.
They also played a cover of Duran Duran's "Come Undone" from the early 1990s. Weird choice, but it was good. I wonder who suggested that one.
Eddie Trunk was standing next to me for the whole show. He was tweeting more than watching, lol.
Here's a full song:

It's interesting that for the two new MP projects which have been announced so far (Adrenaline Mob and the Morse/Morse/Portnoy/Larue/McPherson project), MP seems to be doing most of the promo/interviews/etc yet has had a very small hand in the actual creation of the music. Adrenaline Mob was originally formed by Russell Allen and Mike Orlando, who wrote most of the music, and likewise MMPLM was mostly written by Steve Morse and Neal Morse.
Read into it what you will, but it's definitely unusual that it's not one of the key band members (in terms of group formation and songwriting) doing most of the interviews and promo stuff.

Dude, thats kick ass! Same with Mustaine - you are lucky he didn't cap on you or anything - he's known to be a dick(or was) I got to meet Petrucci at M.I. back around the Once in a Livetime era, he did a clinic when I was a student. Derek Sherinian also hosted a "OIALT record release party" but he was kinda douchey, soo... I didn't get his autograph or anything.(great player n' all) we got to hear the album early, tho. It was while L.T.E. was playing a few shows out here(iirc) Petrucci played Paradigm Shift to a DAT, explaned his rig, Ibanez gave away a white and black "faces "JP guitar, some DT tab books, and John answered q's, then signed for a while. I didnt get a pic, but I like to claim I was responsible for SFAM... As peeps that go to signings know, you only get a second or two and you better be ready(like when I met Steve Vai I just stood there blank faced like Ralphie when he met Santa in Christmas Story, untill they pushed me along) So my question was "What ever happend to Metropolis part 2? Is it ever gona come out?" He said somthing like "we wrote it a long time ago, its completed- I dunno, maybe" To which I said some fanboy shit like "OOO JOHN, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THAT, DURRP YOU ARE THE BEST EVAH!! ect" god i am retarded.... Next thing DT does SFAM.... I planted that seed guys, you OWE me!! lol he prob just didnt want to say they were working on it already I was sooo pissed, too - I was gonna have John sign my Awake tab book(what I called my 'bible' back then) all dog-eared and folded(used well) but I fucking forgot it, I had to have him sign the Ibanez catalogs that were there like some douche non-fan capitalizing on a "star" apperance...
