Without doubt, S-DV is probably the best example. And possibly the best track ever written by Kevin! Yeah, there are quite a plethora of beautiful yet sad songs. This one in particular, below, is one I thought of right away. There are many more in that vein that I'm sure all will think of that are close to their hearts..

There are a lot of songs out there which on the face of it seem sad but actually carry great messages of hope. Peter Gabriel's "I Grieve" is one of those songs...
Silver Mt. Zion have some of the most unrelentingly bleak, sad music I've ever listened to. The whole of "Born Into Trouble..." is very bleak, but the album with their saddest songs is probably "Horses in the Sky". Here's one track from that album...

I like those songs, especially "Ring Them Bells"!
Usually words (lyrics) are very important in songs as they help describe the emotions and psychology of the song better; but definitely, there are not many instrumental songs that are gloomy and sad, out there in the world like Chroma Key's "Pure Laughter":
I think Kevin is teaching Beethoven something good: "Hey Man, stop it before your song gets boring and too complicated!"
