So, a few weeks ago we had a news item about Kevin making a guest appearance on the upcoming album by Beirut-based progressive metal band Amadeus Award. The EP is titled The Book of Gates. The band revealed this morning that Kevin actually played keys on the entire EP, not just a single song. Wow! I just assumed it was a single song, maybe two.
The band also said they are currently looking for a keyboardist to join the band and perform the parts that Kevin wrote and recorded. The band said on Facebook: "You all know that the keyboard parts on our EP "The Book Of Gates" are recorded by the great Kevin Moore (OSI - X Dream Theater), so if you think you got what it takes to play this role send an Email to manager@amadeusawad.com. Candidates should be serious, have great techniques and are willing to travel with the band. Spread the word."

WOW, Mebert! That's a great news! I'm so glad for them (and for us listeners) that Kevin has collaborated with them on such a scale!
I listened to their first album and they had great melodies. Their guitar player is powerful, both technically and musically.

I was just looking at Kev's twitter page and I noticed this description: "Of OSI (with Jim Matheos), Chroma Key (solo project), film soundtracks (as self), hired gun (as others), Dream Theater (former self)." The hired gun part was what intrigued me. I was never sure if Kevin was guest performing on all of these lesser-known albums for free just for fun, or whether he was being "hired." I guess the answer is right there on his twitter description. Regardless of the cost to the bands, a Kevin Moore guest appearance is priceless!

Apparently, Russell Allen, the vocalist of Symphony X, is appearing on this album too? Wow.

This album could be bad ass. I LOVE Russell Allen's voice. Him and Kevin Moore on the same album? That could be sick. The teaser sounds really nice. I'm excited.

Russell's voice is gold! I wonder how will the Kevin's keys go... With the internet and home studios many musicians can gather together in an album!

Russell has a great voice for sure.
I would love to have Kevin make an appearance on one of my future projects but I've never known how to get in contact with him. I know that Ty Tabor (King's X) will play a guitar solo on one of your songs for a small fee, which is very cool. He'll also mix/master an album at his Alien Beans studio for a fee, too.

Is that true about Ty? IS that posted somewhere on his website? That might explain why he appeared on the controversial upcoming album by Geoff Tate's Queensryvhe.

It was on his website before - I have corresponded with him via email. I needed my solo album mastered and he quoted me a price - though I did not ask him how much it would cost for him to play a solo. It was on his website that he did that.

I just looked again and that's no longer on his site. He still might do it, but he's not openly advertising it anymore. Still, his mastering prices are really good for such a well-respected tone master.
