Hi friends,
finally I can talk about my dream come true: my collaboration with Kevin Moore!!
I'm the keyboard player in Madwork and I have had the honour to work on one of my song with Kevin.
We (Madwork) had this piano-based song and we were discussing with our producer the mood and the direction of the electronic parts and we both agreed we wanted something like Kevin's last works.
So I contacted him (he sent me an email long ago through kickstarter because I was one of the 100$ pledgers) and, after a while, he answered me he liked the song and "...I'd be happy to work on Rain with you. Let me know. Thanks, Kevin". He then told me by phone he likes to help bands like us putting his effort when he likes the song and the project and when he feels he can add some value on it".
It's almost one year since I'm writing and talking with him, but I cannot tell you about that: we and Kevin were both very busy and there was an high risk the song wasn't ready for the album deadline.
At the end we made it, but there were some delays in the digital distribution and we decided to posticipate the official announcements at the beginning of 2014.
I can tell you Kevin is very kind, reserved....and busy!
I tried not to act as a fan and be professional, but sometimes we talked about his music. The last time I talked with him he told me he would like to make some other albums in the future, but now he doens't have time to work on them. He's too busy with his studies and other personal matters.
He's living in Iowa "by coincidence" (he told me laughing).
About his contribution on Rain, it's difficult to explain, but I will try.
The piano parts is mine, he changed it a little. All other electronic sounds and loops are made by Kevin except a distorted ambient sound and one of the lead on the bridge.
He also did the bass line under the piano part.
If you are interested to know about a specific part let me know!
Luca
