I'm guessing most of y'all have seen the Social Network. Have you heard the soundtrack? It's by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and it's AWESOME. I'm so hooked on this. Wonderfully dreamy synths and amazing atmospheres. It's not a far departure from some KMO tunes so I highly recommend it to this group.

I saw the film, which was great. I've listened to a couple of tracks from the soundtrack; can't remember the names but one track was awesome piano/ambience/noise, and the other was not-so-awesome generic club music. I keep meaning to give the rest of the soundtrack a full listen at some point...

From what I understand, Trent and Atticus did the entire thing without seeing a single frame from the movie. That's pretty wild. I'm hooked on the soundtrack, hope some of y'all will check it out soon and share your opinions.

If you like FB's soundtrack, you will like NIN's Ghosts I-IV. It's an experimental album by Trent and Atticus released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non commercial share alike license (i.e. you can reproduce and sample it for free)
It's awesome!

I've listened to Ghosts I-IV. Ghosts I is definitely the strongest, and the rest of the album felt more hit-and-miss. Having said that, I haven't listened to it for a good couple of years, and my tastes may well have broadened in that time.

Yeah Luke, and the weirdest thing to me is I didn't even know the movie OR soundtrack was nominated! This is the first time something I've liked has won an award that I can remember. Pretty wild.

Personally, I don't like music awards and I even hate the ones where people vote for their favourite musician/band 'cause most of people who vote doesn't know a thing about music!

Listened to the whole soundtrack on Spotify. Cracking stuff. Hands Covering Bruises is a masterpiece. Some of the tracks are slightly more techno/club/house/whatever than what I'm used to, but there is a level of sophistication in those pieces which sets it apart from most of that genre. Or something.

I agree, ordered the soundtrack right after I saw the movie and it's great. Certainly one of the best I have that isn't orchestral.

In fact, when they came up with Hand Covers Bruise Atticus said he knew that would be the one they used for opening credits!
