OK, this thread is a place to vent and complain.
Shit, I made a couple of huge mistakes at work yesterday that were printed in today's newspaper. Not acceptable. One of the bosses looks like she wants to punch me in he face. I feel like I wanna vanish. I'm so mad at myself.

Everyone makes mistakes Mebes. People who think otherwise have never really challenged themselves.

I made the worst mistake ever. Thanks for trying to cheer me up. Just disappointed in myself. I think I'm a hard worker, so when I fuck up something simple it's embarrasing and unacceptable.
Ok, someone else vent so i dont feel so dumb, lol.

Okay, this is me venting about my job. Is it just ignorance that people do not know how to tip accordingly at restaurants or is it just them being dicks? I mean, I'm okay looking, I'm super sweet (pretending at my tables of course xD), and I work my ASS off for these people. It's not an easy job to constantly walk back and forth through a hot ass kitchen to get things for people who demand instead of asking. I mean, I am a complete stranger to these people, ask me with some effing manners?! ARGH xD /ventingover

When I was a little younger and didn't have a lot of extra money, I wouldn't tip well. In recent years, I've learned how truly annpoying that can be to the waitresses. I wouldn't do it again. People don't tip based on if their waitress is good looking or not, do they? That's messed up. I think it should be all about the service. Anyway, that was a good vent.

When i was a student I once had a waiter spaz out at me for not tipping well enough. The bill was like 12$ and i put 12$ down along with all the change i had in ,my pocket which only amounted to like .50$ ..I was actually going to ask him to break a 5$ so i could leave more but he came over and said "can i get you anything else? was everything OK?" and before i could ask he just went off "if you eat out you have to to tip!! where are you from ?!"....i was offended and then i left without tipping....i was really going to give more though. I try to tip minimum 15% and for the places where i consistently have a great experience 20%-30%.
I really dont mind giving extra $$ to people that make life more enjoyable. But what i REALLY hate are CARS!!! I think they have basically destroyed the entire world!! Can you imagine being able to just walk places without having to constantly be worried about cars??? And why are they always in a hurry ? Yea your in a car...so?? does that mean you cant wait for me to cross the street without turning in on me threateningly??? In my opinion it should be a crime to do that: assault with a deadly weapon. Think about it--they are sending the msg: "cross the street before i run you down". Then there are the jerks that honk at the people who actually do wait properly for pedestrians! Its like they think whatever they are doing in the car makes them more important. And why is it so easy for people to get cars??? they are extremely dangerous !! but everyone has one!! That guy you are trusting not to run you down or who you are trusting not to hit you on the freeway--you are trusting him with your life basically...think about it you dont know anythign about them...
Imagine a world where people only drive in absolute necessity--like once a year. Cars pollute, they are ugly, there are too many of them, they take up too much space, they cause DUI and other needless deaths and they make us dependent on foreign oil and besides if people stopped spending all their money on them they would have enough $$ to give Jess a decent TIP!!
\endRant

Absolutely...just last night I got a $30 tip from a group of men. I mean, I did a good job like always, but every time I walked by they would mutter things to each other such as, "Yeah, John, we all want the same thing you want," in answer to my inquiry about dessert. It happens a lot, especially where I live. This place is full of sleezy rednecks with no brains. I've had to get rude with a few people, but never have I said anything to a guest about shitty tipping. Even if it is just a few dollars, it all adds up in the end. Vivace, I cannot believe that server said that to you! I would never do that, not until the day I quit my job anyway!!

I agree that vehicles cause many problems, but it is too late to go back now. I mean, it is too convenient to get from A to B as opposed to a bicycle or a dunebuggy xD I absolutely HATE paved roads...they are so ugly!

But whats the point of going from A to B?? all there at both points are cars!!
Personally instead of having a car i choose to live right down town where i can walk most places or take a cab when i need to. I have calculated that taking cabs everywhere would STILL be cheaper than owning a car. There are trains other times and you can always rent a car if you feel like the odd road trip.
Seriously try to imagine just being able to close your eyes or dreamily be able to step outside your urban abode and stumble around for 10 yards without having to worry about what a car is doing!
Try to imagine just being able to walk freely upon the earth without being subject to traffic laws!
Its hard to conceive, im not sure i can....anyway its just a pet peeve of mine ...i will stop ranting about it now. I know people simply need cars and i dont blame them for having/using them. On the other hand when you start thinking about quality of life...

I loved vivace's vent! That wass awesome! I gotta re-read it. lol. As for tipping, OK when I was 23 I spent all my money to get VIP tickets to see my gf's favorite comedian, Steven Lynch. I barely had any money left to buy food, so I didn't leave a tip at the end. I was in the VIP section and didn't leave a tip! I felt so bad that ever since then I always leave one.
Anyway, my newspaper mistake was horrible. I was coordinating a list of events on Long Island that was printed in Wednesday's newspaper and wrote the wrong days for two events. And they were big events. You can't mess up and easier task.
Luke, tell us about your colleagues. This is a place to vent. Nobody will see what you say. Let it out, man! Let it out!

LOL im glad you liked it Mebes . Eh im sure you would be surprised to find out how often that kind of thing happens and in a couple years you will look back and have a good chuckle about it. By the way what do you say we rename this thread to Too Much Red Will Go Right to Your Head (Venting) ? OR Too Much Red Went Right to Your Head (Venting)

Okay, my turn. I have to serve court papers and a couple of weeks ago I did an ineffective service. Which is to say I sent them all the evidence we had before it was sealed at Court. So they had notice beforehand to prepare their defence, much more time than the 2 weeks they're allowed. Ouch!!!! Thank god we're only going to a trial on the amount of damages settlement and they've already admitted fault. Phew. PS: I've still got my job thank god... Lol...

Yeah, I'm still cross with myself but hey we are all allowed to make mistakes. Jess, rest those feet girl! Soak them in hot water or maybe get someone to massage them I love sea food... Lol... But I would be a nice customer, honestly! And I usually tip well unless the service is bad. PS: My husband works in catering, he is a chef so I know how difficult your job is, and how tiring and stressful it gets. Hope you come across some nicer people now :-)

Luke, tell us about your colleagues. This is a place to vent. Nobody will see what you say. Let it out, man! Let it out! ok, I will vent hard I'm responsible for a device in a testing laboratory full of many other device. There are many colleagues that are using this laboratory for their test. And everytime there is something that doesn't work in the whole lab network, they call me and say "oh, Luke, your device isn't working properly". And after I spend time to search for the problem, the result is at 99% not a problem related with my device, but something else, sometimes very stupid (cable disconnected, spelling error, ...). I'm very annoyed for that. They never check the problem, they assume it's my fault and call me.
