Hey guys i know wev discussed the lyrics to this song here. I just found this AMAZING interpretation of them that simply must be correct! Wow. I find it incredible that once the concrete meaning of the song is discovered it actually has become more interesting than when it was more mysterious. Brilliant.
Now we(maybe just me) had be speculating about a possible connection with Even The Waves and indeed the album "Dead air for RADIOS". I am thinking about it some more....

Wow. I have to go back and read the lyrics now to see this connection. Who is the person that posted that and how does he know for sure that's what the song is about?

Hmm, just reviewed the lyrics. Where did you find that posting, vivace? That COULD be what the song is about. But the lyrics are still vague enough where it could be about something else. Maybe Radiologue was inspired by that Crowhurst event, but Kevin twisted it to be applicable to his life as well. You know?

I mean I think thats the brilliance of it, that there are so many parallels between the Crowhurst event and issues we deal with in our lives. Remember Kevin did say that his lyrics for the Blood album were more sort of concrete. I think he was working with the Crowhurst here and im kind of blown away. What a thing to have happened! See this would be a great question to ask Kevin himself Mebert

Wow, but i need to know who is this "freakbag" person that made the link? maybe he has some kind of inside information through kevin. he seems pretty aure about the song meaning.
i agree about asking kevin. once details about the new OSI start to come out, I'm gonna try hard thru Metal Blade to arrange a moderated fan chat with Kevin so we can all ask our own questions. he did it once in 1998 after DAFR was released. i think it's a good idea.

That makes PERFECT sense of the chorus: "Can't go on, Can't go back". Reading the lyrics, there are a lot of connections.
Kev said that when he wrote the lyrics to Blood, he made a conscious effort to make the lyrics mean something, and have one specific meaning. That connection seems too strong to be ignorable.

Never heard of this guy's story before. It's fascinating. He made up entries into the log book while sailing around the world and then started to lose his mind as the lie expanded and unraveled? Wow. That's really bizarre.

Yes, it makes sense.
And it's nice to know about this guy Donald Crowhurst.

Definitely great find Vivace!
Makes perfect sense. It was very interesting reading about that event. I had never heard of it. The song means a lot more to me now.

Since iv been talking about it i have come to realize more people than i thought are aware of this event and there is apparently a very good documentary about it called `Deep Water'--its been highly recommended, a friend called it `the best documentary ever'... and theres also a book Teignmouth Electron by Tacita Dean which has been highly recommended as well.

I just spent the last two hours watching the documentary. it was really well-made. interviews with crowhurt's family and friends and other competitors in the race. i recommend watching it. it was beautiful.
the only inconsistency with "Radiologue" is that Crowhurst sailed eastward around the world, and "Radiologue" said the person was heading "west." Maybe that was kevin's way of making the song a little bit about himself? he is comparing himself to crowhurst maybe? his decision in the mid 1990s to risk everything, leave DT and drive across the country? It's kinda like the risk Crowhurst made in this race.

i actually was thinking about, "i was dreaming i was heading west thirty days faster" and wanted to link it to the Crowhurst's story somehow.
It can be interpreted, for example, as his mission and heart was heading towards the west, his home, though he was sailing in the direction of east for gaining his goal.
It's all very ingenious of Kevin Moore. i wish he would write a book describing all his lyrics. :-)

at one part in the documentary, one of the interviewees actually something like "he can't go on, he can't go back." those weren't his exact words, but that was almost what he said. the documentary also had a lot of excerpts from crowhurt's log. i was curious if kevin used one of the exerpts as a lyric in the song, but it doesnt appear he did. at least, the passages they mention in the documentary didn't match up with any lyrics.
