Finally was able to see Deep Water: what an impressive documentary!
These days Radiologue makes so much sense to me. That's why I came back to this thread and decided to watch the film.
I don't believe the lyrics are about Donald Crowhurst but i guess Kevin must have been influenced by the documentary, supposing he has seen it- as we know he's into watching documentaries and movies!
Kevin is intentionally complicating simple notions using layered metaphors... He's likening his life or experiences to being inside a boat that is not that much safe and secure (like that of Crowhurst) and he finds it hard to communicate with the world- or his loved one (as Crowhurst find it hard to communicate):
"Heard your voice coming through the noise, wrote it in the radio log Hurt my head, wondering what you said, so i threw it overboard"
I think those lines show lack of understanding and improper communication!

Finally was able to see Deep Water: what an impressive documentary! Thanks for sharing your analysis! You and Mebert are professional K. Moore analysts, if you ask me. I, too, recently caught that film and agreed that it's a great documentary. Who knows what Mr. Kevin is thinking when he writes these lyrics? As we all know by now they're always open for interpretation. But I do think the Crowhurst story was certainly on his mind when he penned Radiologue words. Whatever the case, OSI the band and DEEP WATER the film are highly recommended!!
